Our portfolio of commissions ranges from contemporary and abstract styles to traditional designs and techniques in stained and leaded glass windows and stained glass panels. Some notable church window commissions can be viewed in our gallery pages with details of the symbolism and design description that inspired the stained glass windows. New commissions often begin with a preliminary discussion with our stained glass artist to determine the purpose of the window and the setting within the building.
Windows can be protected from damage by a number of approved methods, and we can provide a quotation on request for custom made wire mesh window guards, polycarbonate window protection and isothermal schemes.
The materials and tools used in the making of traditional leaded windows and stained glass windows have actually changed very little over the centuries, despite designs being of a much more contemporary style.
Our chief stained glass window artist is Jude Tarrant, elected Associate Member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters. Our stained glass artist designs for church window commissions in stained glass and bespoke art glass for domestic interiors and public buildings and all the stained glass commissions and leaded windows are produced in our own UK studio by our dedicated team of glass craftsmen.
Conveniently situated on the south coast close to the M27 serving the Southern counties, our stained glass supplies shop can easily be reached by road or train from Bedfordshire, Dorset, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Sussex.
The train station is only 5 minutes walk away, and we are just a short distance from the ferries to the Isle of Wight and hovercraft to Ryde. Although many of our products can be bought through our internet shop our customers always enjoy selecting glass from our wide range, appreciating the textures and colours available from our large stock, and making colour matching a pleasure.
The memorial window by Sunrise Stained Glass studio artist Jude Tarrant AMGP was commissioned in 1993 to clebrate naturalist Gilbert White at St Mary’s Church, Selborne. Featured in several international magazines and books, it has been described as: “One of the loveliest of 20th Century windows....” Simon Jenkins, ‘England’s Thousand Best Churches.’
Sunrise Stained Glass studio craftsmen are skilled in the restoration and conservation of all kinds of painted and leaded historic windows and details from some of our projects can be found here on our website. For more information on the specialist services we offer please follow the links to our Gallery and Portfolio pages for new stained glass commissions and to the Restoration and Conservation sections of our website for particular projects.
Decorative glass panels are produced by our stained glass artists using traditional leaded glass techniques that have been tried and tested for centuries.
